BAE Systems STEM Roadshow

Delivered jointly by BAE Systems, the Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force, the Schools STEM Roadshow, visited our year 7 and year 8 students.

This roadshow focused on magnets and the important role they play in everything from healthcare, to transport to electricity generation. The team, with the support of Mr Magnet, demonstrated a series of practical applications of science concepts to bring them to life for the students. Could a magnet really lift a human being? How can a magnet make an item 'unliftable'?

BAE Systems, the Royal Air Force and the Royal Navy currently employ more than 50,000 engineers across the UK and are committed to engaging with young people on STEM activities to encourage and support a highly skilled workforce of the future.

'I thought it was thoroughly entertaining, and I really learned a lot about magnets and electromagnets.' Martin, Year 8 Careers Ambassador.
