Career Insight Talk - Gleeds
Emma works for Gleeds as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor. She is currently studying for a degree apprenticeship at Northumbria University.
During the talk Emma spoke about the essential skills; all of which are essential to her role. She particularly focused on the need to be able to solve problems and to be creative when doing so. She explained that any project will have a start and a finish point and it is her role to work out the journey that the project needs to take to successfully reach that end point.
Her role involves a lot of maths and strong numeracy skills are so important when working to budgets and tight deadlines.
It was great to find out about the routes into construction and the wide range of job roles that exist within this sector.
