Career Insight Talk - Pets As Therapy

We had two guests today for our careers talk, Ally and her dog Ness. Ally and Ness are volunteers with Pets As Therapy.

Pets As Therapy (PAT) is a national charity that enhances the health and wellbeing of thousands of people in communities across the UK. PAT volunteers and their friendly pets visit establishments such as care homes, hospitals, hospices, schools and prisons, and bring smiles to many faces.

Ally and Ness visit our Academy each week as part of the PAT programme but were here today to talk about what their role as PAT volunteers involves and why volunteering is so important.

It was lovely to hear Ness' story from being adopted by Ally from the Dog's Trust to working as a PAT dog. Ally spoke about the reasons why she volunteers and how important it is to 'pay it forward' and contribute to your community.

A truly inspirational story. Ness certainly brought a smile to all of our faces!
