Careers Insight Talk - Cybersecurity

Our first careers talk of the year was led by Charlotte Knill. Charlotte is a Specialist Cyber Prevent Officer with Northumbria Police.

Charlotte spoke about her route into cybersecurity and the myriad of roles within this career area.

We discussed how she uses the eight essential skills in her role. Including:

Problem solving and creativity - Charlotte is faced with a range of problems that she needs to solve each day. Cybercrime is continually evolving and so she needs to be able to come up with creative solutions. She needs to be able to 'think outside of the box.'

Teamwork - Charlotte works as a member of a team of police and civilian staff at Northumbria Police. She has to be able to co-operate and work closely with her colleagues.

Communication - Charlotte works with lots of different people in her role. She needs to be able to communicate effectively so people understand what she is saying. She also needs to be able to listen carefully so that she understands the case she is dealing with.
