Dear Parents,
Over the six weeks holidays there are a number of exciting opportunities available for your child to take part in. Sessions are free to attend for eligible families and participants will get a healthy meal and snack each day. The offer includes some crafts, dance, musical theatre, drumming, songwriting and other creative activity and there’s something on offer for children aged 4-16.The opportunities that are available are as followed:
- 2-5th August - Aerial Arts, Creative Workshops and Creative Cooking at Arts Centre Washington - 12.30-4.30pm.
Ages 8-12. Join us for four days of activity including aerial arts, crafts, cooking and creativity at Arts Centre Washington. Inspired by the circus world, aerial arts takes acrobatics to the air! Alongside these sessions we will have creative classes. Both activities are open to absolute beginners and those who want to give this a try, with a team of staff on hand to ensure the safety and comfort of those giving this activity a go for the first (or second or hundredth!) time. Sessions are delivered by professional artists, and are open to young people aged 8-12.
- 9-12th August - Musical Theatre, Drumming, and Creative Cooking at Sunderland Empire - 10am-2pm.
Ages 8-12. Receive an exclusive tour of Sunderland Empire and work with groups on stage where we will do musical theatre, drama and drumming workshops. Engage with some creative cooking and meet likeminded young people for four days of creativity. Sessions are delivered by professional artists and musicians and are open to young people aged 8-12.
- 15-18th August - Crafts and Creativity at Seventeen Nineteen - 10am-2pm. Ages 4-11 (families encouraged to stay).
Spend four days in the beautiful Seventeen Nineteen building, right in the heart of Old Sunderland. Over the course of the week children will engage with a church mouse trail, do some boat-building inspired by the history of the area and take part in craft activity such as origami and basket weaving. They'll also spend some time doing creative cooking and have a try of some Victorian fancy dress and old school games. Sessions are open to children aged 4- 11. Families are encouraged to stay.
- 22nd-25th August - Songwriting at Bede College Performing Arts Academy with Sunderland Music Hub - 10am-3pm.
Ages 13-16. Over the course of this four-day song writing workshop, young people will work with professional musicians and songwriters to write their own music. Young people will take to the recording studio to record their tracks and have a go at a range of instruments. The activity is open to those who are beginners in songwriting and want to give it a try, alongside those who are more experienced, with musicians on hand to support all experience levels. Sessions are open to young people aged 13-16.
