The English Department delivers masterclass lectures
All year 11 students experienced masterclass lectures by the English Department on the three GCSE English Literature texts they are studying in preparation for the upcoming summer exams.
The masterclass lectures focused on a range of topics and helpful guidance for good exam practice. The aim of the masterclasses was to: build confidence; provide students with more knowledge of key themes; help them develop good quality responses; provide further historical contexts for the texts.
97.5% of students reported their confidence improved as a result of the masterclass lectures.
Some of the comments of the students:
- I enjoyed the multiple interpretations and learning about different types of audience.
- Different teachers with different styles of teaching was engaging.
- Very useful for me/enjoyed the context in the plays/novel/more lectures
- I like how we were taught in detail about all the texts and I learned a lot more about themes and contexts.
- Very informative – good to know how to apply to an exam.
