Core Physical Education
Overview
The KS4 PE curriculum continues to be broad, balanced and carefully planned to ensure that content is thoroughly revisited so that learning is consolidated and sustained over time. Physical Education is one of the most powerful mass movers in changing and improving the lives of young people.
As such, a key aim of the physical education department is to develop a strong “sporting culture” within the Academy for both participation and excellence, for all pupils. Through this culture we aim to 'create a sporting habit for life.'
Within the KS4 PE curriculum, students continue to be encouraged to be physically active for sustained periods of time, develop fitness and competence to perform, enjoy and excel in different sports, compare performances with previous ones to achieve their personal best, gain knowledge and actively model how to lead healthy and active lives.
To deliver all aspects of our curriculum we focus on Knowledge/Thinking development, Skill development & Fitness development to support the development of well-rounded individuals ready for life after Castle View Enterprise Academy.
In year 10 and 11 student leadership is a theme across all activities as well as students taking part in a bespoke sports leadership unit. Here we want to ensure students have the leadership skills to lead and organise a range of activities to ensure they have the capability to do this once they leave Castle View Enterprise Academy to encourage independence in lessons.
Students also engage in a multi-sports unit designed to introduce students to a range of alternative and non-traditional sports and activities that they may not have experienced in the past but could be enjoyed as part of a healthy and active lifestyle
