Help With Reading At Home
We know that reading is one of the most important skills that a child can develop, and it has many benefits for their academic, reading skills and personal growth.
A child reading every day can have a big impact on their reading ability. It helps them build their vocabulary, improve their comprehension, and develop their imagination. Children who read regularly also tend to have better concentration and focus, which can help them in all areas of their academic life.
We strongly recommend that reading with your child as a daily habit can be fun and an enjoyable experience. This can help your child develop a love for reading, which can last a lifetime.
To support reading at home we offer all students with Home Reading packs. These pack can be requested at any time by clicking the link below:
The Home Reading Pack contains:
- Book or books - these books have been specially selected for your child taking into consideration their reading ability.
- A reading record - this is to record and make notes for each reading session, the notes can be as brief or detailed as needed.
- Reading question mat - the questions are designed to be asked before, during and after reading, research shows that active readers, readers who engage with questions and explore their ideas, will improve their reading ability.
- Book Review Book Marks - once the book has been finished, simply complete the book mark and put it back into the pack. The book reviews will be added to our rainbow of reviews in the library.
- Library information - we are proud of the amazing library and vast collection of books we have curated, the information shared about the library is to encourage your child to attend our library and all it has to offer.
Your child can access a wide variety of texts instantly on the E-Library, using any online device to read E-Books. Even audiobooks are available for students whilst they are completing homework, walking the dog, tidying their room - all scenarios!
