Library
Central to Castle View Enterprise Academy is our Learning Resource Centre (LRC), serving as our school library. It offers a generous and well-lit area equipped with computers and an extensive collection of over 5000 books, and various other resources. Students have the option to utilise the library for structured study sessions such as homework, coursework or collaborating on projects. Additionally, it provides a comfortable environment for students to indulge in their personal reading interests. The LRC is overseen by our dedicated school librarian, who maintains a permanent presence and welcomes all students afterschool to join in with the various clubs on offer.
At CVEA, we prioritise reading, and the LRC serves as the ideal setting for this endeavour. Our library motto, "Everyone Welcome" succinctly captures our mission. We aimed for the LRC to embody the quiet, scholarly atmosphere of university libraries while also infusing the joy and pleasure of independent reading, peer interaction, and the excitement of discovering new books. We've created a space that fulfils both these aims, where students are encouraged to take charge of their learning and cultivate their passion for reading in a nurturing environment.

Our collections
The library at Castle View houses both fiction and non-fiction books, has dedicated reading and study zones. There are computers available for students to use for homework and projects. We have a range of permanent collections aimed at promoting a love of reading across all year groups, including:

- Curriculum shelves
- Fantasy and horror

- Wellbeing

- Verse Novel mini library
Student librarians
The academy runs a Student Librarian Leadership Programme for year 7 and year 8 students. Students have the opportunity to build their leadership and teamwork skills, learn how the online library system works, and help the library to run as a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment. They are always around to offer help and recommendations to students and staff looking for their next read!
Book subscription
We offer a free monthly mystery book subscription service for students looking to try something new or who aren't too sure what to read next. On the 1st of each month a book is selected and delivered by the librarian based on past reading and current interests.
After school clubs
Always wanted to learn to play chess? Could you be a military strategy genius? Are you the next Stan Lee? Would you love to spend an afternoon discussing books with likeminded individuals? There are afterschool clubs running every day after school, check the display board and the sign-up sheets at the library desk to take part in a club of your choice.
E-Library
We are thrilled to offer our students access to over 3000 audiobooks and eBooks free of charge as part of our library service, through Wheeler's ePlaform. Students can access the digital library through the website linked below, or through the ePlatform Digital Libraries app, available for both Apple and Android. eBooks and audio books can then be borrowed and downloaded for easy and internet-free access on the go. Every student has a unique ID number and password that can be collected from the library desk.
Reading cloud
The Academy's in-school library catalogue can be accessed by students on Reading Cloud. From here, students can search through the collections, access reading lists, request, reserve, and review books, and keep track of their current or past loans.
Every student has a unique ID number and password that can be collected from the library desk.
